Help with rear ps bracket for 4.2 to 4.0 conversion

Hey Jeep Brothers and Sisters. Here's the latest update and a request for some help.

Today we got the chrome headers on and the Clifford 6 to 8 intake with the twin 2bbl carbs installed. Love how it's looking and I'm pretty excited.

The challenge is that with the 4.2 to 4.0 head conversion we did, the #0630 head is taller and two of the original 4.2 rear ps bracket holes don't line up. I know the conversion is common and there's a lot of talk about this issue but there's nothing really prominent out there about the solution. I need to know how to modify the bracket or find a rear 4.0 ps bracket that will fit.

Let me know your thoughts and if you know a solution for the bracket I'd be grateful.

Don't know what the accepted fix is.

But if it were me I'd trim the corner of the bracket to fit with the holes lined up.

I can notch out for the exhaust pipe but the primary issue is the bracket being too short as well to reach those two bolts.

Okay, I see it in the third picture when I scroll down. The front bracket prevents the whole thing from rolling up.

A good weld shop can alter the bracket to make it fit.

It's basically cutting a section out and adding a taller section and drilling two holes. Bracket appears to be 1/4" or 3/16" thick flat stock.

That's what I'm starting to think too. I just thought that with so many others out there doing the conversion there would be more out there about it and/or a prefabbed bracket you could buy.

That's what I did. I cut the bracket bolted it where it needed to be then cut a piece to fill the gap. Tack welded it in p!ace. Then took it apart and welded it together.
