What was that crunch?

I installed a new track bar in my JL today. Then went for a test drive. Heard a crunch - crunch and only then remembered that my phone was sitting on my front bumper. Ran it over with both front and rear wheels. Only the back glass of the phone cracked. But the font display doesn't work. I don't know how to turn it off now lol. New phone won't be here for 5 days. I am beside myself with grief.

Sounds like a warranty issue. They need to build phones better.

That sucks, I've done it with tools.

I didn't run over my phone, but I did drive several hundred miles enjoying the peace and quiet before I realized I hadn't heard my phone go off in a long time. I had tucked in next to the winch, and it only fell on its side. whew!

It was a 5 year old Google Pixel 6 Pro. The warranty aged out this past November. So I can't complain too much. It was just as fast today as was the day I got it. And I was already thinking of upgrading to get the new AI features.
I literally had a flip phone until about a year ago. Then I bought an S24. The AI photo editor is so fun.

Shouldn’t this be in the “What Did You Do To Your Phone?” thread?😵‍💫

I don’t wanna talk about the many and various ways I’ve broken and lost phones.
I've had a surprisingly good run with phones. 5 years out of the one that met it's demise today. 4 or so years out of the one prior.
In fact I am surprised, with the amount of backpacking, backcountry skiing and fly fishing I do, that I haven't killed more phones by dropping them in the river, or in the snow only to see them slide away down the hill, or any of the many ways a phone can meet it's demise while backpacking.

I have one of those! Sorry, you can't have mine. It still works great! But I will upgrade once the software support stops.

You could try a phone repair shop. Youd be amazed at what the phone can survive. Might just need a new screen for $200.

I contacted Google Fi support to see if they could offer me a deal on a new phone and I got the same suggestion. But then I would have to drive to Reno and hang out or worse leave it and come back another day. So with the over one hour one way drive I figured I would end up spending a bunch of money on gas, and a bunch of time. So in the end I got $450 off the latest Pixel 9 Pro XL and I didn't have to kill my weekend plans to go fly fishing with my son.
