What gauge wire for winch solenoid?

I pulled my bumper this weekend to install my winch. Afterwards I determined there is no way the solenoid is going where it's intended. Does anybody know what gauge wire to use to extend it?

It is all about the current draw... I would suggest matching to what was original or find the current in this chart. Always round the current up to the next wire size if you fall in between sizes.

Can I mount my solenoid/control box vertically? It looks like it would fit straight up and down between my grille and lights. I think the wire length would be fine. I'd just have to make a mounting bracket.

3, IMO is too small for a winch. My xd9000i warn will pull 400+ amps at maximum pull rating and over 200 amps pulling 4,000 lbs.

I'd go at least 2 gauge or thicker. Warn specs out a 2 from the factory. If a longer run of wire, for sure go up in thickness.
