Hey everybody. I've been a long time reader of the 4x4xplor.com write-ups and didn't realize there was an accompanying forum for the website. Imagine my surprise!
I live in Puerto Rico (where the Jeep wave is nonexistent) and am here because I am in the US Coast Guard. I will be here for another year before heading back to the mainland, wherever that may be.
I'm just looking to do some minor modifications to the 2000 TJ. I just had a shop completely rebuild the engine after having issues with it overheating. I think the head gasket was cracked and water was getting in to the oil. Leaving it parked for 5 months due to a deployment didn't help matters either. She's back up and running though and I'm happy about that.
Few upgrades I'm looking at to do in the near future:
2.5" lift (Rubicon Express Budget Boost)
Sway Bar links (Maybe Disconnects for this mall crawler )
Painting the chipped up OEM rims with a nice bronze coat
Other vehicles:
2002 Chevy Tahoe Z71
2012 JGC Limited (stock, wife's)
2006 Audi A4 Cabriolet
1999 BMW R1100S
Overlanding has always interested me but I've never given much though of doing it as I haven't built any of my vehicles up to do this sort of thing. I may need to sell the Audi and motorcycle as I don't really use them all that much.
