Washington DC Auto Show

We are in DC for the auto show.

This is the second year we have attended. The year before the ‘Rona fiasco we attended and Jeep had a great display with an indoor track set up.







We are staying at the Hotel Washington near the White House and next to Treasury. The Hotel has a nice restaurant and bar on the 11th floor.

This year the main theme of the show was EV.

The indoor test drives were all EV cars. No EV trucks or SUV’s. It was really weird watching them do laps around the track with nothing but the sound of tire rubber squeaking on the painted floor. Very depressing.

Also there was a stage set up with a bunch of EV owners extolling the virtues of EVs and talking about how they overcame their initial hesitation to buy an EV. It was very commie and reminded me of the attempted ‘re-education’ in the RTL at SERE School or the end of the book ‘1984’ where the main character Winston is finally brainwashed and becomes compliant.


On a happier note….The primary exhibit I wanted to visit was Jeep.

An Earl Grey 392 was on display.




It is an interesting color and seems to shift and shimmer depending on the light.






Masks are still a big thing in DC.




I ask the two ladies from Stelantis overseeing the booth if there was going to be a refresh of the 2023 Wrangler. They confirmed there would be a 20 year anniversary model of the Wrangler Rubicon but did not believe the 392 would be part of that. I was thinking about buying one if it happened. Hopefully they are wrong.

That really sucks about the EV thing. SEMA was doing the same thing it and just made me want to toss my cookies. Too funny about the mask thing too.

Thanks for posting up the pic of the Earl Gray. I was kind of hoping to see what it looked like outside of the promo photos. Also, good intel on the refresh and 392.

My second favorite exhibit. If I was not ‘Jeep Poor’ I’d buy one of these. The last of its kind- very sadly.

They had a SRT Hellcat wide body and a Hellcat Redeye. Both sexy AF!

There was also a Wagoner L. Super plush and a Land Yacht!!

I believe it starts at 110K.


















The passenger gets their own infotainment system. This would keep my lovely wife from changing the radio during my favorite song- however I’d still be forced to listen to her sing it.

My lottery winner car would be one of the 70th anniversary corvettes. The $156K price tag is a bit painful. Always loved a Vette.

After dinner we took a walk around the White House. LOTS of uniformed Secret Service as well as unmarked dark suburban. Multiple ambulances were leaving the the White House.



Maybe Creepy Joe is not healthy?
