Warn VR Gen II

Warn recently released their 2nd gen of the VR series. I know it's still new but if anyone has more info on them please let me know. I'm curious if these are made in China like the first gen VR's.

The Gen II VR's are of interest to me too. I've emailed Warn asking about more details but haven't heard back. Basically, Eddie's report from SEMA has more warranty and country of origin info than I can find on Warn's site. (Thanks again, Eddie)

I believe Napalm bought a Gen I due to a better price if I remember correctly. I'd bet he chimes in sooner or later to confirm.

I understand the lack of information they've released since it's only been out for a month. But I'm surprised they haven't responded to your emails. If they end up responding with valuable info let us know.

I purchased a Warn VR8000 Gen 1. After a Black Friday sale and rebate, I'll be getting it for about $330 which is an impassable deal for a Warn. I spoke with someone at Warn and they stated that the VR series winches are assembled in the USA but the VR series uses Chinese parts.

This was the only Warn I could afford, so I went with it. As Clay has told me many times, if Warn stamps there name on it, it cannot be total crap. I haven't received it, but once I do I play to get it and test it.

They probably created these to compete with other winch companies at that price point. Like I said, the warranty looks like they are willing to stand behind them.

So here's what I just received back from Warn, and I am definitely leaning even more this way now...

"Hi Bryan. Warranty statements can be found here: https://www.warn.com/corporate/truck_warranty_statements.jsp

It's a Limited lifetime warranty on mechanical and seven years electrical.

The VR is made in China, but isn't just a "me too" winch. It's made to our specs, our quality control, in a factory that only builds winches for Warn -- not like so many other winches made overseas."

Ahhh, my bad.

Yeah, no worries.

somewhere I can contribute! I emailed them on November 30th asking the American Made question, received this:

Easier to tell you what winches are NOT built here in Oregon J

The VR entry level truck winches (VR8, VR10, VR12)
The 1000AC
The 1500AC
The 2000DC
PullzAll and Drill Winch

So that leaves about 54 different winches and 11 hoists built in Oregon J (not counting several dozen variants)

I will 2nd the thank you for sharing. I'm also looking to purchase either a 8000 gen 1 (if available) or the gen 2 after the holidays or some time before my next trip in June.

I was looking at them too but I received an email today with the Warn ZEON 10S on sale for $899 with a $100 dollar rebate so I jumped on it. I figure it was US made & it was the cheapest I have seen them. Now I just have to get the time to hook it up.
