On the plus side, the transmission is less likely to down-shift on the steep hills so the engine is less likely to rev higher in those situations.

pft, on my 2010 JKU with the 3.8, anemic 3 speed transmission (OD/4th was always locked out) I'd still do up to 90mph, it was a screamer but got the job done when needed.
Usually kept it around 70-80, 65 if I wanted good mpg lol

Gears are broke in and took Gypsy out to Five Mile Pass to get her feet dirty. Performance is noticeably improved on and off road. Along with improving performance in 4lo, off-road performance in 4hi and even 2hi is better and the Jeep is more versatile. I should have installed 4.88s a long time ago.

What does it take to install JT Rubicon axles in a JK? I pulled the rear axle out of Gypsy to redo the diff- AGAIN!
The diff started making noise and when I opened it up see what was going on, I found metal fuzz everywhere. Removed the axle and took it to Twisted Off-road & Automotive to find out what went wrong. Harley, the shop owner, discovered the axle has a kinked tube, throwing everything inside out of alignment.
A set of JT 44 axles with factory brackets, ARB lockers & 5.13 gears are available and I’m wondering what needs to be done to install them, front & rear, in my 2012 Rubicon. My Rubicon also has factory brackets. Will the JT axles bolt in? Or will different brackets be needed?
