VIDEO : Dash Going Crazy on Our Jeep Gladiator

"Blindspot Alert Unavailable Service Required" error constantly popping up on the EVIC, "Auto Start Stop Disabled", Infotainment System screen is black or dim, reboots over and over again or states "Subscription Updating", are just a few things that we've been seeing on our Jeep Gladiator after a day of hard and fast driving across the desert and over really rough terrain. Other electronic gremlins we've been experiencing are "Climate Controls Off" with no ability to turn it on or it is on and blowing hot air and without the ability to set temperature or turn it off. Also going haywire is our Satellite Radio which goes in and out and with no controls over volume and the subwoofer periodically makes a pulsing popping sound. Even the buttons on the dash center stack are wigging out with the lights on them blinking erratically and are not functional.

Oh, for those of you who care, there is a Ripley clip at the end of this one 😎

Ripley is so cute and way too smart!

There is only one true solution to your electronic gremlins- an LT4! 🤣😂

Love when you're like, "AWESOME! That fixed absolutely... NOTHING." :ROFLMAO:

Whole lotta weirdness for sure. Curious if my service advisors see this often - let me ask.

EDIT: They're all laughing.
LOL - I'm hoping they're laughing at at cute Ripley is and not because they have no idea. At least, I sure could use some kind of help here 🤪

LOL - an LT4 would definitely fix the lack of power we have but I'd most likely still have a passenger side rear tail light that doesn't work

Glad you enjoyed the Ripley clip :)

Man, I HATE electrical gremlins. It could be some innocuous connection somewhere that's common to multiple systems.

Only other place I might suggest, bottom side of fuse/relay array and check for corrosion or bent pins. Or even cracked plastic that's allowing pins to move during operation.

Gracie and the putty tats came looking for the "new" dog when they heard Ripley talking.....

Oh Ripley's a given lol but all they can tell me is stuff like this is apparent on first years for both JL and JT, so 2018 and 2020 like yours. Only thing they can come up with is a dying original battery or they have something like an early model Tazer married to it. I have a friend with a 2018 JL Rubicon that has his infotainment system intermittently flicker and sometimes go completely blue.

Of course, we'd all love to see Moby or the 392 on the New Year's run too 🤪

Damn, sure sounds like a loose ground or software glitch...

Just one of the Jeep gremlins I guess, kinda like my infotainment system on my '20 JLR getting the random 'Device not supported' message and then rebooting multiple times, let it sit for an hour or so and usually works fine. This was happening once or twice a month, then two to three times a week and now has not misbehaved in a couple of months. Also the ever so random glitch where to get satellite radio to work have to switch to AM and then back to satellite-this happens a couple times a year. Now to be fair, it came with the 7" screen and I bought a takeout 8.4 and installed it a couple weeks after I bought it so firmware updates are not supplied OTA. Naturally I pulled the radio back out and checked to make sure all wiring was secured but to no avail.

What I haven't done yet is remove my Taser, update firmware and reinstall-thanks for the tip!

By the way, Ripley is super cute!!

The JL certainly has its issues....

I get the "Blindspot Alert Unavailable Service Required" on my 2024 quite regularly but with absolutely no pattern that I can find. My wife has the dreaded "Auto Start Stop Disabled" on her 2020 and we've done the replace batteries, replace main fuse bus, and pretty much every other suggestion found on the interwebs. Neither of us has a Taser so can't comment on that fix.

Do enjoy Ripley's clips !!

Yeah, I've checked the fuse blocks for any bent pins or cracks and found nothing. And again, things are mostly better now. I just need to figure out why my passenger side tail light isn't working 100%

Too funny about your fury friends getting excited about Ripley LOL
You know you have electrical problems when it turns into a full video......or a multi-series 😂

Really hope you guys can track it down. That would be driving me absolutely insane. And was funny watching Ripley get super frustrated just from you saying "get" haha
I have some ideas of what to try next but it's been cold and rainy out and I'm done for the day LOL

Tazer is definitely suspect but I can't get rid of it as I rely on it to turn off all the things I no longer have.

Yeah, I really hate all this electrical crap.

Glad you enjoyed seeing Ripley :)

Happy to hear you enjoy the Ripley clips and if it weren't for the batteries being new, I would have suspected them too.

Sorry man, I hope you can find the gremlin(s), issues like that are so damn frustrating. Any chance there’s a wire that’s chaffed near or around your rear trailing arm? IDK, but maybe your taillight is a clue. The computer knows if you have an aftermarket taillight in there so if there’s a short perhaps it’s tweaking the computer out.

It's totally possible especially with all the custom work that's been done. I've been looking but haven't found anything yet.

electrical gremlins drive me crazy; sure seems like a ground issue.

At this point, I'd either be adding pigtail ground wires to the taillight plugs to see if it helps or doing the Big3 wiring to see if it helps.

I don't recall, did you already replace the IBS sensor on the ground? isn't that little control freak on the primary ground wire?

Also, for lack of ideas, have you tried disconnecting all the accessories from the ground?

Hmmm... Ripley is pretty smart, if she can find the monster, set her loose on the truck! Ripley, get the electrical gremlin!

Kudos for sharing your experiences, especially when it’s not going well. We are all better prepared to face these issues from what is shared on this forum!

I had some electrical issues on my 2020 JLUR this summer and my dash was going crazy as well plus affecting my transmission, shifting electric power steering, cooling fans… ended up being a chaffed wire on the plug for the electric swaybar disconnect grounding out they canbus system on my bumper. Best of luck Eddie and Cindy! Hope you get it figured out!

I was thinking this too. Totally different but on my JK the light would show out when the heat sensor/shield blew out. Maybe the aftermarket has something built in that went out/loose with the bombing. Still wouldn’t explain everything else though. Bizarre and hopefully you find a fix!
