Upgrade Lower Control Arms

I would like to upgrade my stock JKU Sport lower control arms both front and rear. Currently I have a Pro-Comp 2.5 inch spring and coil lift with MT Baja ATZ 32's. What control arms are recommended? Is there a specific length. I am looking at either the Rock Krawler front http://www.rockkrawler.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=RK02020 and rear http://www.rockkrawler.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=RK02028 or Offroad Evolution front http://www.offroadevolution.com/store/proddetail.php?prod=EVO-FL-ARMS however cannot seem to find rear from Offroad Evolution :thinking:. Please provide advice.

To my understanding the most important sets to replace are the front lowers and rear uppers andto use adjustable ones.

Front lowers will allow you to fix your caster after a lift and rear uppers will allow you to fixyour pinion angle.

Also it is best to grt arms that have whats known as heim joints or johnny joints because they will allow for much more flex.

The offroadevolution joints are heim joints and i beleive currie sells them as well, not sure about rock krawler. You'll pqy a little bit more for evo and currie but from what i hear they are well worth it.

Btw this is just what i have picked up on by readin others posts so it could be totally wrong.
 
I thank you for the input and realize they are going to be expensive. Just like anything you get what you pay for.

Currie and EVO both use Johnny Joints. John Currie is the guy they are named after :yup:
 
I get it Johny Joints.:question: the question is which one to get? What are the ones I need for a Pro-Comp 2.5 inch spring and shock lift. :thinking:

I would say its all on how you are using it, how long you plan to use them and personal needs/desires and your lift height. I am going to be lifting 3.5" and since I am in a 4door, I will be able to get away with front lowers only for a little while and keep my stock rears. In a 2door you would need adjustable rear uppers as well as mentioned above. I purchased the rock krawler front lowers from northridge around christmas on sale. Their price is much cheaper and they have a long track record of quality parts. Their Krawler joints are notorious for becoming very squeaky, but this can be prevented with regular greasing. Evo's arms are amazing and easily adjustable on car, but they are one of the most expensive arms on the market. Quality isnt cheap and they have Johnny's on both ends. Currie's front lowers also have JJ's at both ends and are a little cheaper.

If this is the kit you will be keeping and not changing out to a long arm kit soon I would go with Curries. I went with RK because of the price, and my plan to upgrade to a LA system within a year or two. But to be honest you may be ok and not need new arms at all with only a 2.5" lift, it really depends on how high your jeep actually sits. Some kits say 3" and sit closer to 4" and some sag with bumpers and sit closer to 2 or 2.5". Maybe someone who has used the PC kit can chime in about actual ride height

With just 2.5" of lift, your factory arms will work just fine and I would actually recommend that you save your money and not replace them. IF you feel the need to add a bit more positive caster, I would recommend EVO or Currie arms as mentioned and for the reasons listed. There are other good arms out there such as Full-Traction as it uses FK rod ends at the axle and clevite bushings at the frame. JKS is another but, they are really pricey. For the rear, you only need adjustable uppers IF you install a new rear drive shaft.
 
Stizzy and WAL thank you for the input. As of right now I am sticking with the 2.5 because SWMBO is not authorizing another lift which is fine. I just wasn't sure if the stock arms were going to be enough.

Oh yeah, for what you have, the stock arms are plenty good enough.
 
Yeah you do not need them with 2.5 inch lift. Stick with something with a good joint. The cheap Chinese joints suck to repack! The Johnny joints are a lot easier to repack from what I have heard.
