Trail Capable?

Ok to start I have a 2013 jku with 45k on the odometer. 3.6L automatic, 37's, cut fenders, non rubicon, stock axels, regeared to 4.56, and misc. interior stuff done. Now my question is, should I bother going with front and rear lockers? Or should I just lock the rear and either keep front open or upgrade front to a 44 or reinforce the stock 30? It is my DD and I would like to get back out on some trails once it starts to cool off again here in Vegas. So I guess you can say Im a little less than a weekend warrior.

as everyone has said numerous times on this forum... reinforcing a d30 is just a waste of money(edit: except gussets)... so i would recommend running that d30 till it breaks and then upgrade, that was my old plan with my last jeep until i upgraded to a rubicon. Good luck!

I would c gusset your front D30 (cheap and good mod) while you save for a 44, like the pro rock for example. Especially pushing 37's, that d30 will not last long if you wheel is hard. Lockers, you can start with the rear and add the front with your new eventual axle.

I'm currently running my D30 with C gussets. Going to save my money till I can afford a G2 Core 44. Then for now you could strengthen the D44 rear or leave it the way it is and don't get too crazy wheeling. Good luck.

:thumb: I honestly don't even wheel hard, I mean occasionally I'll get into a little bit of an interesting situation but nothing crazy. So yeah I'll keep to status quo until something breaks!

So i've been told. I'll just keep both open diffs for the time being and see what breaks first and that'll be fixed first.

You can totally lock your rear 44. And it will help a ton on the trail. Just don't do your front with 37s and a d30.

I gussetted, sleeved and chromoly shafted my front d30, and locked my rear 44 with an Aussie auto locker, and ran that on 35s for a while. I didn't wheel it too hard and it help up very well. You can totally do that and it won't break the bank and give you some insurance.

Yeah that's the more conservative, probably less expensive option of the two. I should get some prices around town of how much that would run me vs. a lockable 44 up front! Thanks Mike!

I have a Front D30 rear 44 with 35's and 4.88 gearing. I locked the rear with a 35-spline ARB and feel good about eventually going to 37s with the rear as is. I will not go any bigger with the front being a D30 and would def not lock the 30.
