Tire opinions

I would like to get some opinions on tire selections. I am currently running 35 X 12.5 R17 BFG KM2 tires and have no complaints about them. They look good, perform well on and off road, and with 50,000 miles on them, they still have a good amount of tread left (although they will need to be replaced before too long). I am looking for something with aggressive looks, good performance, and that has a good tread wear (relative to other mud type tires). I don't care about how loud they are or if they have good street manners (although that would be a nice bonus considering my JKU is a DD). Let me know your opinions of some tires you have used, good or bad.

I have toyo O/C MTs on my jeep, and I love them. Excellent offroad, clean out well, do great in the rocks, tough as hell, and balance well. They have also exceeded my expectations on snowy roads and snowy trails. Pretty good on the street, kinda loud.

My girlfriend has Nitto Trail Grappler MTs on her jeep and she likes them. Pretty good offroad, do great in the rocks, tough as hell. They still do good in mud and trail rides, but find they don't clean out quite as well as my Toyos, and took lots of weights to balance. They also exceeded expectations for snowy roads and especially snowy trails. Loud as hell tho.

We both have had BFG KM2s in the past, and both prefer our current tires to them. Even though they are much heavier.

Thanks, I've been checking both of those out so it was good that you were able to compare them side by side. The loudness of the tires doesn't bother me, in fact I kind of like the noise. What did you prefer about those in comparison to the BFG's?

The biggest difference was that the BFGs were terrible on snowy roads or trails I found, one set was even siped. I also find the Toyos to be better in muddy situations, they clean out extremely well. Another plus is that the Nittos and Toyos are pretty much a true size tire, so you actually get the 35" you wanted.

At the moment I'm running stock 255 Nitto Trail Graps. I chose them 'cause we live at 8,000ft and at the end of a gravel/dirt road. They've faced up to a foot of new snow and got me up the hill every time. They tend to dig through the snow to get to the traction. Based on their snow performance I'm not sure they are a great sand tire. Could be wrong. I like them and after 11K mi. I'm thinkin' I'll be movin' up to 35's way before they wear out. Oh yeah, and they're fairly quiet on the pavement, 'kept concrete slab. Good luck on your choice.:yup:
