Tire cut sidewall - questions please

just cut a sidewalk on a new tire. Only 4,000 miles on the tire. I need to shop for a replacement tire. In the meantime I got to thinking and had a few questions. If you don’t mind. These are reference to a new 2022 JLU with BFG K02 T315/70r17


1) is there a tpms sensor in the spare?
2) if I move the spare is it difficult to retrain the TPMS to recognize the tire position?
3) any tire dealers you recommend in the Phoenix market? My dealer of choice isn’t in the southwest.

There should be one in the spare. Typically there isn’t on the “donut” type spares but the JL should have one just like the JK. Discount tire/americas tire owns the southwest and is who I would recommend. They are headquartered right there in Scottsdale.
 
There is likely a sensor on your spare as it’s full size. Compare the stem on them, if they look the same it’s likely got it.

Im not sure, but many tpms systems will automatically adjust to the position of the wheels. If you go through DT, you can ask them. They can do this if needed.

I have and will only deal with DT. I get the certificates and I have talked to my local shop. If I puncture the sidewalls I pay the $60 for a new certificate and I have a new tire.

They also price match and can order tires they don’t have in stock normally. Talk to the Rep here, they should be able to help you out.

wow, that is a first! I have had two Rubicons with KO2's since 2009, one a JK, the other a JL, never had an issue with the BFG's. Discount Tire is the way to go, certificates are a must for a Jeep; never a worry. Costco will have a great deal time to time, but Discount Tire is a good deal.
 
Old thread but

1) JL should have a TPMS in the spare

2) TPMS on JL's automatically calibrates itself for tire location when rotating, after about a mile of driving the sensors are woken up and the vehicle will know where each one is.

Ordered Mopar 2” lift kit for my Wrangler Willys Ecodiesel. I want to change the tires to BFG KM3s LT315/70R/17 (34.4x12.4x17) mounted on steelies. It has the narrow M220 and M210 axles (Rubicon is 3/4” wider each side. )if anybody has done something similar or knows about wheel offsets that would be helpful. I don’t want the tires outside the fenders or doing a whole lot of rubbing. Thanks in advance!
