Got a last minute call from Trail Bud today reminding me that the Thunderbirds were in town for the 2017 Aviation Roundup, a cool air show that takes place every year out in the Carson Valley. Because we got a late start, we weren't able to make it to the show itself where all kinds of cool planes were on display but we were able to find a good spot close to it and still enjoy the Thunderbirds perform. Here are a few shots of what we got to see.
Shot of our Jeeps parked near one of largest Starbucks roasting facility which just happens to be right next to the Minden Tahoe Airport where the show was taking place.
First of the 6 Thunderbird F-16's taking off.
So cool they were flying right over our heads.
Showing off a bit on take off.
4 of the F-16's flying in tight formation getting ready to do some awesome maneuvers.
Going ballistic!
Doing nice rolls.
Floating by on thrust alone.
Fast and tight bank.
A lone F-16 blasting over head.
Flying in five.
Super pretty planes.
Starting a super big loop.
Or, making a nice pretty heart to say how much we LOVE AMERICA!
Giving Moby a buzz.
Ripping through the sky.
And then spreading out.
Like a flower opening its pedals.
And with one corkscrewing its way to the stars.
Circling around inverted.
A final sweep before landing.
