Standard wheel/tire specs?

Okay, so as usual I'm a total noob when it comes to tires.

Im looking for a set of 35" tires and rims to get. However it seems like theres a couple million dimensions out there, and each variation costs either slightly more or less.

my question is: what is the standard (most common, idiotproof) 35" tire dimension, like which one should i go for with a 17" rim, and what would the rim dimension be to go with that?

Depends on the hieght of the vehicle since some tires are 35 but are like 34.2 or 35.7 depends. But that is insignificant compared to rim offset. Just make sure you have the right hiegh to clear the 35s then depending on what width tire you go for (they ranger from 11-12.5 inches I believe) pick a rim with a small enough backspacing so that you do not encounter rubbing at full lock.

ah thanks guys! ill check out those specs,

but this gives rise to another question. should i get 15" or 17" rims? and what do you guys run? pros and cons of either setup?

Depends what you're going for look wise. 16s I belive are the cheapest. 15 may not clear te factory break caliber properly. I am running 18s since it's my dd and I inly wheel it once a month. But I'm looking to pick up a set of rims and tires in 16s with 4.25 backspacing I was that set up is popular

16's and 18's are the least popular (in the US) and gave a crappy selection of off road tires available for them compared to 15's and 17's.

If you lived in South Africa, a 16 would be a great choice! :yup:

ah thanks guys, i think ill end up going with 35x1250x17.

now just to choose what kind of tire... haha so many choices

Canada most run 16 that I know of but out tire prices are a little higher at time. 17 is a good standard I agree.

If you get the wheels from AEV, they're designed for Wranglers - ie spacers built in so to speak.
