Squeaking noise in the rear on bumps

People I need your help! Lately I've been hearing squeaking noise in the rear and metal bang when I hit a bump or a crack on the road. I've tried to locate where its coming from. I have jumped on bumpers, went under the jeep check the shocks, checked for loose bolts, checked the tailgate and tire carrier, nothing. The only thing I found that I could move and was squeaking a bit when I moved it was muffler. The rubber mounts are moving a bit and squeaking. My question is, is it normal? Are they suppose to move back and forth? Should I get new rubber mounts? Or it's completely different problem and I should keep on looking??? Help please!

Do I just check for the shock mounts to be tight?, or is there something else I should be looking for?

Brake pads could be squeaking. If it goes away while braking, there you go. Ask me how I know :D. I applied brake grease to the back of the pads.

Sounds like a bad bushing. Shock, trackbar, control arm, sway bar...check 'em all. Your exhaust is most likely not the culprit.

Try greasing the sway bar links. I had a bad squeak in the rear, and that's what it turned out to be.

So, here is what I figured out. It only squeaks and sounds weird when it's below 30 degrees F. Past week it was a bit warmer and I haven't heard anything what's so ever. As soon as it got cold, started hearing squeaking and banging sound again. Any idea anyone???

This may be a longshot for you. But the dust shield at the rear brakes caused the squeak in the rear of my jeep. Took me forever to find it. Every time I went over bumps etc. it would squeak. You should be able to tell just by grabbing it and trying to move back-and-forth.

Rear Tire/Carrier?

Maybe check your tire and tire carrier. When I was running the stock carrier with a 35" tire I had a squeak due to the tire carrier being loose from carrying too large of a tire and it hitting the rear bumper. Just a though...

have you had a lot of snow where you are? because about a week ago i noticed a thump sound coming from my drivers side rear and i thought it was odd, we had a cold snap the day before and it was about-7C one day then -18C the next and there was snow up under the whole rear end. it warmed up again a few days after so i took it to a car wash and sprayed the entire underside of the rear and blasted all the snow and crap from under there and boom no thump. so snow could be in between something as well. just a possibility to check. i figured the snow got colder and hardened somewhere and was "binding" (cant think of a better word) on something

Second on this. Mine made that noise. Brake pads were missing anti-rattle clips. As said before, if the noise goes away with braking, check pads.
