Spongy clutch

So I took my JK into the sand dunes of the Dubai desert for the first time at the weekend. Having had 2 wranglers previous and driven countless times in the desert I kind of have the feel for it now and know what I'm doing, however it seems that my clutch now seems a bit spongy. I didn't beat on it hard or slip it when offroad, it just somehow feels less engaging, before going offroad I could really feel the bite point and it felt like a good solid engage, but now it is really smooth and doesn't feel as connected, I'm a little worried that I have taken a huge part of the clutch life away somehow. The jeep only has 5500km on the clock so that's what's worrying me. Any ideas? It seems to drive normal, it just feels different under foot. Any ways to check my clutch isn't on it's death bed already?

If your only concern is in how the clutch feels under foot, your problem is most likley just isolated to the clutch slave. It may have a leak, may need to be bleed or, it may have a bad spring. Either way, they are relatively cheap and easy to replace if it ever goes bad. Your clutch itself will last a lot longer and you'll know when it's going bad.

A ray of hope.......Any way to check without going to the stealership? I'm pretty sure it's hooking up ok as I don't think it's slipping. What's the best way to check slippage?

If your clutch is slipping, when your driving and u step on the gas your rpms will go up but your momentum won't change. Like a slipping auto trans if u ever felt one.
U will also get a horrible smell from the slipping clutch. U can't mistake clutch smell once u smell it... Kinda like gear oil.

Ok, well the good news is that if I step on it, the revs don't shoot up. So I suspect the system just needs bleeding as Eddie originally suggested. There's definitely no clutch smell, that's very distinctive and definitely not getting that. Thanks guys I should be able to get it sorted from here. Anything else I'll let you know. Cheers!
