Speaker wire

Just installed a new stereo in the jeep and just purchased a new 4 channel amp yesterday that I plan to install myself as well. I have aftermarket speakers in the dash and in the sound bar. I keep reading that I should run new speaker wires if I'm installing an amp. Is this true? If so any recommendations on gauge, brand, shit I haven't though of because I'm a total audio equipment newb?

You will have to run new wires.

Wires you'll need:

2 sets of RCA cables from the headunit to the amp.

A wire directly from the battery to the amp. With an inline fuse as well.

A signal wire from the head unit to the amp

And a ground from the amp to a ground somewhere on the body.

Then youll need enough wires to connect each of the speakers.

Id recommend a minimum of 4 guage wires for the battery and ground connections. And 16awg for the speakers.

You can look into running the wires for each of the speakers behind the dash and tying into the existing speaker wires there, rather than running them directly to the speakers to save running and hiding all new wires. Youd need the wiring diagram that came with your harness and to label each set from the amp so you dont get them mixed up.

Back when i did a lot of car audio "stinger" made good complete kits.
