At the last Suds-n-Grub that we had up in Virginia City, a few of us got to talking about the big winter storm that was expected to come in over the weekend and before we knew it, we had made plans to get out into the white stuff and have some fun wheeling in it. Trying to be smart about things, we decided not to head up into the Sierra's where our easy day out on the trail could quickly turn into a "three hour tour" and instead, made our way to the east and up into the Pine Nut's. As luck would have it, 11 other Jeeps including a way cool TJ and YJ were able to join us and here are a few pics that we were able to take from some of the fun we had today. We hope you enjoy.
Getting ready to head out and meet everyone.
Snowy drive out.
It was a bummer to see the snow turn into rain but it was good to see everyone.
Really happy to see not only a TJ join us for our run but a YJ as well!
Shot of us along side the trail head airing down and getting ready for some fun.
Time to head out into the white stuff.
Unfortunately, thanks to the rain, a lot of the trail early on was more slush than snow.
A couple of weeks back, we had seen some BIG rains and flooding due to it melting all the snow we had and that caused some damage to trail.
Thank goodness we drive Jeeps.
Working around the washout.
The further up the canyon we went, the whiter it got.
As luck would have it, the further up we went, the more the rain we were seeing started to turn to snow fall.
Now we're talking! Even more snow!
Even the trees and bushes were starting to turn white up here.
Taking a break to get out in the snow and play!
INCOMING!!
Return FIRE!
Okay... now we're getting ridiculous.
Ummmm, yeah...
On the move again, we came across a section of trail with a washout that wanted to suck Moby down into a wash.
Moby said - BRING IT!
Everyone else working their way around the washout.
Climbing back up the other side of the washout still took some work.
Nearing the end of the trail.
Heading back to town.
Airing back up after a great snow wheeling Sunday funday!
A BIG THANKS to everyone who joined out on the trail today and for making it so much fun. Cindy and I had a great time with all of you and look forward to getting out with all of you again soon :thumb:
