I can get this bumper for $250 Canadian locally. The only issue is the stinger needs some welding. Is it worth it?

i would say the stinger is not repairable.
offer them $150, cut off the stinger, grind it down smooth, paint it, be happy.

or find a local iron shop to bend you a new stinger, brace it, weld it on.

That bumper can be bought new from 4wd.com for $359 fyi

No its not worth it IMHO. No offense to anyone who has this bumper, but its a sign of the quality. I had a rugged ridge bumper and, while the stubby base was fine, all the add on's were just pure garbage. The stinger was super thin and I'm sure I could have bent it by rolling the jeep against a tree and putting it into drive with no "impact".

With that bend in the tube on the stinger I would say it is not worth fixing that. Once that tube bent it lost all its strength and really isn't usefull anymore. I agree with the cutting it off and smoothing it out though.

Im gonna have to agree. I think the strength is compromised. A weld wont hold a 4000 jeep....well, a weld that size that is.

Not to try and pick anything apart but the size of the weld doesn't necessarily mean the weld isn't strong. Often times on thinner metal in this case the stinger a bigger weld would compromise structural integrity with too much heat, losing carbon in the process. It would then become brittle. It's definetly all about welder skill in production welding. I agree start with a junk product and you still have a junk product no matter what

I guess my post came across a bit cloudy...I meant that even if you welded that, the weld wouldn't be strong enough to actually make it structurally sound.

save your money

shes pretty much pointless now...

there are a lot of low cost options on new stingers. check out poison spyders brawler lite or bfh line. great bumpers for under 500.
i have brawler lite with trail stinger and already put the full forward jeep wight on it and she held up and put me back on all 4s. just a scratch ;)
