Yeah says inside the grille in the story. Not sure about saving lives either it looks like it was designed to damage the car only.

I didnt mean that the guy was actually saved by a skidplate....it was just a jest at skidplates now have more than one use.

Skids would have probably worked against the one mentioned in this article but I damn sure wouldnt trust a 1/8 or 3/16 skid against a pipe bomb. Ive seen some pretty f'd up thick ass armored plating after an explosion. Thankfully this one didnt pack much of a punch and only the Jeep was hurt.
