Okay I went to the site, read up on the "non profit fundraising organization" and I did not see anywhere that they are a legit 503c3 charity. Am I missing something?

In reading their FAQ, they take the money donated, then "invest" it in order to increase the donation and then turn the money over to other organizations. Honestly, just my opinion, but it certainly seems sketchy.

Edit: I have a few questions for the owner of Set Them Free Inc. I clicked the contact button but can't seem to find a method of contact. Anybody have contact info for these folks?

And equally important, was there any attempt at all to get pre-approval from Eddie to post up this "non-profit" event?

What the hell is with all of these people ignoring the rules lately?

Oh dear lord.

I sincerely hope this is not another one of those "we are going to 'raise awareness'...fly by night...send me your money...we'll use it for good use (minus 'expenses' of course ;))…check out my jeep...take a good cause and milk it for what it's worth…causes." :grayno:

I see Trail Jeeps is a sponsor along with Northridg4x4. Hopefully they researched this for us. I'll reserve judgment, but after spending a few minutes looking at a few sites online, I'm curious to know what exactly they do.

The stupid is getting laid on pretty thick around these parts. 😳

Hate to say it but after digging a bit it doesn't appear that they've filed any 990s with the IRS. At least according to Guidestar.

I looked them up on a few online outlets and they have one instance of donating. The rest is about a free jeep being built and traveling around. This dude is a joke.

I saw the same thing. Check out his Instagram it's full of pictures of parts he received from his "sponsors" to build his jeep. I wonder if he is related to Basil?

I should have given more information on my original post, for not doing so I apologize. My main intent on this post was just getting awareness out there seeing as its not very well advertised. I am not an administrator or host of the event. I participated in this event last year with several friends and it was definitely a fun time. I was able to find proof of the organizations 501c3-EIN: 46-1799598, Set Them Free INC out of Castle Rock, CO. By no means am I asking anyone to donate, that is not my intent. Just getting word out on an event later in the year in central Colorado that people may have not otherwise known about.

Wow, you guys let your panties get in a bunch so quickly. The guy just posted about an event he liked and though other people might like too. Calm down.

Fuck that and fuck you. The guy should have posted more info like he did in his second post. I can't stand people with so called charities that just scam money and all signs point to scam with this guy before the info was posted.

You're probably one of those just sit back let the world flow kind of guys. That's what's wrong with the world today.

We sponsored last year and plan on sponsoring again this year. We participated in the event (led two trails) and had a great time. I've known Gianni (the organizer) for almost two years now and he is a straight shooter. I receive emails letting me know how the money has been used, such as helping overseas law enforcement track down and save little girls from human trafficking.

We are very choosey about the events we sponsor and I am proud to say that we are a part of what they are doing.

Super fun event and with some of the best wheeling in Colorado.

I appreciate you posting up their EIN. I have looked it up and have verified it. But, as MY RULES instruct, you need to also provide a detailed record of what they've accomplished and offer full disclosure of how their proceeds are distributed before I approve your post. You technically needed to do this BEFORE you posted this thread.

While WAYALIFE.com is willing to support and help promote legitimate non-profit organizations, charities and charitable events, we do require proof of their 501(c)(3) status be provided as well as have a detailed record of what they've accomplished and offer full disclosure of how their proceeds are distributed. Any and all non-profit organizations, charities, charitable events or their websites that are posted on WAYALIFE.com and cannot be verified by the IRS as having a legitimate 501(c)(3) status will not be allowed, PERIOD. 3rd party organizations or businesses that attempt to promote themselves by hosting charitable events will be required to provide proof that they are in fact working with a specific non-profit organization or charity and that proceeds collected from the event will in fact be going to them. Please note, it is the responsibility of the member who wishes to make posts regarding non-profit organizations, charities and charitable events to obtain and provide this information to the administrator.

Wow, you let people your panties get in a bunch so quickly and enough so that you had to chime in. The guys here just posted what they thought about the event and in lieu of the significant lack of information about how the money donated will get used, I can't say I disagreed with any of them. Of course, this is to say nothing about how it was posted before getting my approval first AS WOULD BE REQUIRED. I believe it is YOU who needs to calm down.

Since none of this detailed information is provided on their website, perhaps you can share some of the private emails you have gotten from them showing exactly how the money they've raised has been used and how much of what they've raised was used for it.

Super fun event and with some of the best wheeling in Colorado.

Never questioned whether or not it was fun but, if an event intended to raise charitable funds is being promoted on my website, I would like to know more about them, what they do with the money raised and how much of the money raised is used for their cause. NONE of this is listed their website.
