Running water in a JK

I thought this would have been a nice feature. A nice clean flush look.

It is pretty cool to have running water on the trail, but the location of the exposed spigot is in one of the most vulnerable positions on a vehicle that will see trail use. That things is asking to be ripped from the quarter panel, I think the idea post above of making it a recessed spigot/flush mount cover would the better option if you were serious about doing the modification

Agreed but that guy didn't seem like an offroader. More of an adventurer where his jeep would take him to the places where he was gonna explore. idk I'm making this up as I go :idontknow:

Starting off I'd be concerned about contaminants already inside the bumper making the water not potable. But using it for other things like washing boots, hands, the dog, and whatever else comes to mind would be handy.

There is the issue of corrosion from the inside out. Much like leaving water inside your air compressor. After a while it will cause a problem. Anyone know if the factory bumpers are coated on the inside or are they bare metal?

Unstable weight could also be a problem. Imagine all that water sloshing from one side to the other as your rig shifts weight climbing over a rock. There is a lot of lateral distance for the water to travel and accelerate from one side to the other.

Now having said all that, I like the idea. There are ways to improve it already mentioned. I think if I were to do something like this, I would make a custom bumper that had baffles inside to prevent the water from sloshing too much, make it lined and have some way to clean it. Not an easy ask, but something to consider. AEV has a bumper with integrated water tanks, anyone know how they do it?

Running water on a Jeep JK

Thought I would post this nice setup I found on YouTube. Running water just by using his stock rear bumper as a water tank as well as on board air. I think jeep should make this an option on the new JKs. Check the link out!

The bumper is all plastic. From the inside out. No metal. There is enough deflection surface inside of the bumper itself to essentially act as a baffle. I doubt the water would slosh around to much. Not to mention is only 7 gallons he said. What's that, less than 50lbs total. I'm 200lbs bouncing around in my drivers seat and don't cause any stability issues.
