Rock hard 4x4 sport cage

Looking for pics of the bolt in rock hard cage on a 2 door Jk, specifically the rear section with the "straight across the rear bar". I know the front sections are all the same. Post em if u have them! Thanks in advance

Well, these are shots of my old TJ but I would imagine that it's basically the same deal...

That looks nice. The one for the Jk doesn't have the angle anymore. There is a center bar like the front that goes back and connects to the new rear bar.

Hmmm? I wonder if that bar would fit the 4 door above the cargo area?

It mounts at the bend and is welded with the clamp at an angle. It may be too high for the top to fit if u mount it on a straight section of the cage. Just a thought

It might work, and they also have a rear seat belt harness bar that has a lot more bend in it, but could also be run higher up on the rear down bars. I have actually thought about this as a replacement for the factory 2"x4" square tubing crossbar. Now that my rear cage has been tweaked by my flop over, I'm no longer interested in it

I'm gonna order the cage Monday. Just not sure if I want/need the rear section yet as I will probably not run a rear seat anyways. I'm not even sure if it will still fit after the stretch...lol

It was worth it though:cheesy: I see an evo weld in cage in your future:brows:

I was just looking at that. My plan was to install the PSC c-pillar kit and weld some sort of a cross bar between those. Things to think about.

If you have the cash for it do it. Ask Mel about my flop pre-running KOH in Johnson valley. The sport cage will absorb a lot of the possibility of the stock cage folding, but as long as that cage is tied only into the body and not the frame, you will have a twisted body. The sport cage does add quite a bit of strength to the stock cage.

U are saying to def do the rear section as well? I guess I'm looking at it like I can always fix the jeep, just not always myself....lol

I would say that if you have the extra coin on hand to just do it, or at least put it on the short list of needed items. I am guessing that anyone spending the time to do a sweet, two door stretch is not looking at doing only car shows and jeep expos. My sport cage was one of the first things I added to my JK after my build at Off Road Evolution, it is definitely a safety net and nothing more, but it is a lot more added strength to the jeep than what the factory left you with. Is it race worthy, absolutely not, but it is enough to keep you from being crushed in a hwy rollover, probably so. Too many unknowns about what would have happened if I had been running more rear sport cage cross members when I flopped last month. I can't say if more sport cage would have added more twist to the body or kept it from twisting my rear quarters like it did. I would like to think it may have helped distribute the forces more equally :idontknow: Eddie might be able to chime in here on this with some of his formal schooling background on this theory. Bottom line, its cheap insurance.

Found some pics. I think it looks good. Not as cool as the triangulated style on Eddies TJ though. What do you all think?

Yep that looks pretty damn good. Without the sport cage added, if you were to take a roll or a slow flop, those two rear factory cage bars would surely get easily tweaked, bent or crushed. This set up in the pics looks really cool too!

The stretch is so I can more easily get groceries, and the ride will be smoother for my girl to do her makeup.:brows:;)

The one thing I see with this style is you'd always need to run a full squared rear top be it hard top or factory style soft top. Many like the fastback soft top look and those would not be compatible. Just thinking/typing out loud.

good observation. i didnt even think of that. however for me its either hard top on or off. i have a new hoist to mount in my garage to make things easy on me too. as an fyi for others looking at this thread i read that one of the bows on the rear of the soft top must be removed at one side in order to put the top up and down

Well, compared to the 4 doors, a two door fast back top really is not so fast back. They almost all follow the rear cage tubings very squared bends. But yep, you are correct, it will be a factory hard or soft top from here on out with a sport cage in the rear on a two door.

If that's the case, then the extra support on the cage in the rear would def add safety and frame rigidity.

I'm sure you could cut and reeled that rear upper support bar that goes straight back. If you shortened it about 6 inches that other bar would allow for the fastback top.

If that makes sense.
