Road trip idea for next year...

So I was thinking about taking the Jeep on a road trip next year from Louisiana to Cali... Any places you guys recommend as stops on the way out there?

I was thinking from here to Lake Tahoe, Rubicon Trail, then drive out to San Fran. And from there drive down the coast to LA/Long Beach, then to San Diego and then home.

now THAT is one hell of a trip!

If you go to San Fran, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oxnard, Malibu, Laguna, or Irvine areas in Cali I can tell you of tons of places to stop and grab AMAZING food along the way from San Fran to SoCal depending on the route you take.

....and if you are driving by day and in no hurry I would absolutely say that taking the PCH(AKA the "1" AKA the Pacific Coast Highway) from San Fran to Santa Monica...LA to San Diego is alright but nothing compared to the scenic views that are north of LA. Once you have the route planned shoot me a PM and ill give you some tips. Enjoy the trip!

Will do. Right now its just a dream, but hopefully I can make it happen. I figure that will be a once in a life time trip for me, but definitely something I would love to do. As far as food, i'm not sure if Cali can beat what we have down here in the south, lol. I would like to plan a trip around any possible up coming rides out there next year. I think it would be fun to meet a few people off of the site.

Just so you know...there are one or two people out here that can make a taco or burrito better than you can get in LA ;) Their are some awesome korean BBQ and asian fusion restaurants that are pretty unique as well.

BUT I will say that when I first moved out here for work I went to 15+ places and NEVER found a place that served grits and I was going through withdraws! My first trip back, the plane was delayed and landed in Dayton OH around 2am...well my first stop 5 miles away was Waffle House for an All Star Breakfast with grits and hash scattered, smothered, covered, diced!

Great idea. When you're around make sure you let us know we can put together a makeshift suds and grub and invite the so-Cali Wayalife family.

Alberto's!!! Carne asada burrito!!!!!! That is truly one thing I miss about Cali. Now we have In-n-Out burgers here in the Dallas area!

Sounds like a fun trip. As for food, you are going to get food that is unique to each part of the country you are on while there and can't really compare it to somewhere else. Cajun food and Mexican food should really never be compared. Lol

In-N-Out Burger...nuff said :yup:

X-2 and any or the Tos brothers for Mexican rod in San Diego. Roberto's, Roybertos, Albertos. You get the idea. If going through Sacramento a must stop if they are still in business is Leatherby's Family Creamery. Best home made ice cream ever.
