Re-centering the wheel 2007 JK

Sorry if this is covered somewhere, but I lost track of the steering wheel center while changing out my steering box. Do I have to reset the clock spring? I tried pulling the steering wheel center cap and got as far as the first clip at 6'oclock, but can't seem to figure this out. I'm in the garage working on it in case anyone is around to lend some advice.

Unhook the steering and then free spin the wheel til you feel a little resistance than turn it all the way the other way til you feel a little resistance counting the turns. Turn back to half way re attach steering.

Thank you. About how many turns should I expect? I was afraid of damaging the clock spring.
