Prototype of cargo cover

Caught the Bug
Ok, this is the first prototype. I used chip board because a) I had some here at the house and b) it is cheap. There is a second piece under the soft top. So it is two pieces. I used cheap Orielly's auto carpet to cover it for now. The final product will be made from birch plywood, because it is really strong. I am either going to use epoxy and resin or fiberglass on the plywood. There is a small shelf underneath that my side windows go in. This can also stay in place when I put the soft top back up and now I have a lower and upper section to put stuff. I am really thinking resin and epoxy to keep the wood look.

Looks great with the cheap carpet on it. You did a really nice job contouring around the seats! That’s always the hard part!!!

Thank you, I used a huge cardboard piece from a TV box as a template. I cut it out the laid it on the wood. I also used a wood contour gauge.

Looks really good! Been meaning to ditch my rear seat for good and build something in the back of my two door for a while now. Will have to look into it again
