Suwanee, Ga. (October 1, 2013) – Rugged Ridge® today announced the availability of its all-new Performance Vented Hood for the 2007-2014 Jeep® Wrangler (JK).

Inspired by Chrysler’s aggressive SRT® designs, Rugged Ridge’s Performance Vented Hood is engineered to provide 50-percent more ventilating surface area over similar designs, helping heat quickly escape from the engine compartment to maximize engine efficiency.

Made from high quality stamped steel, the new Performance Vented Hood uses a factory inner core assuring it fits like the OE hood. In addition to fitting like a factory piece, Rugged Ridge ships each of the hoods standard with a rust preventative E-coat that’s ready to be painted. Each Performance Vented Hood can also be ordered in factory matching colors directly from any Rugged Ridge authorized retailer assuring an OE look to compliment the OE fit.

“The design was created to be an attractive way of eliminating the heat that can build up during tough off-road situations,” said Chris Van Buren, Design Engineer at Omix-ADA. “We wanted to give Jeep owners a great quality hood at an affordable price that included an easy installation and a factory fit and finish.”

The Rugged Ridge Performance Vented Hood is available online and through select Jeep and off-road parts/accessories retailers nationwide starting at $699.99.

I have to say, while I'm not normally a fan of Rugged Ridge parts, this hood looks nice and functional. The price isn't terrible either. Thanks for posting this WOL!

im not a huge fan of it but its ok looking. i would consider it if i ever felt the need for more ventilation

It's OK.

I have a question about their false advertising. (in red)

If the OE has zero vents/ventilation, wouldn't the RR hood provide 100% more ventilation ????

Further down it says more ventilation then other similar designs, so other hoods like the AEV one.

I actually like this hood a lot. Though the 10th anniversary hood is my favorite.

I wonder how this compares to the hood louvers in terms of ventilation performance.

I like the vents on the side. I don't like the vents on the top being flat.
the 10th anniversary hood is still my favorite.

This one isn't as gotti as some, That 10th anniversary hood is just plain sexy!!

Jeep is missing an opportunity here. Design, build and fit a heat reduction hood on the assembly line. "BAM"!! Under hood temp problem reduced! Fit 185,000 of them to JK's next year and the cost is probably close to the same as the current hood. Considering how much most of us spend on mods, we probably wouldn't mind paying a little extra $$$'s to mitigate the problem. I'm guessing Jeep won't do it 'cause if they do they're admitting there could be a problem.
BTW, I like the looks of the hood, but by the time it's prepped, painted and installed, I don't think I'll like the cost. Gonna stick with stock 'til the paint blisters.

I just got my 2013, so I'm going to see how the temps run this coming Summer but if I find them on the high side this hood looks like the ticket next Fall.
