Post lift questions

Have a couple of questions and I'm wondering if they're legitimate concerns or me just overthinking things.

FIrst one, I set my spare on the rear, should I put some heat tape on the exhaust or is the tire going to be fine like this?

Second question, looking at the angle of the driveshaft at the carrier bearing, should I use one of those carrier bearing spacers to drop the carrier bearing and lower that angle?

Am I overthinking these or should I spend cycles on these two things?

On your first question, depends on your level of OCD. The area is wide open, there is air movement through there. I removed my heat shield to be ready for the 37" spare.

On your second question, the steeper angle will cause the joint to wear out faster. Again this falls back to OCD levels. I did use a Rock Krawler Drop Bracket because it lowers it more than spacers and it takes the offset in the driveshaft out of play. The angle at the pinion is what everyone references.

DOH I thought you were installing a 2 post lift in your garage. Seems lots of folks are running their spare 37s there and haven’t had problems. No idea bout carrier bearing but it makes sense to lower the angle to avoid premature wear.

Didn't think the angle was much of an issue with rzeppa joints. under extreme flex the boot could tear leading to the grease to dissapear itself
