Possible cooling system issues? Not sure

Hi guys
I am on my second jk just got a 2015 jk u sahara after having owned a 2007 for some time
It has 130000 km on the clock or about 60k miles
I live in dubai so a bit hot around 105 110 f on a normal day
When driving int he road i see temp needle is pointing in the middle and i have been monitoring the evic coolant temp it goes from between 208f to 220 at times even and then 210-215 once i hear the fan kick in . Needle never moves further than middle on tarmac driving

Last couple of times i went desert driving or beach dunes driving i noticed that needle moves a bit higher than middle and coolant temp can get to 230 or 233 f till i hear fan high speed and then coolant tempt drops off. This is with 4h and sand beach driving

Today in the desert it got to 230.235 and it even reached 240 f i could hear the fan working and it then started cooling the coola t temp but this tome i saw the needle closing more on the 3/4 line which worried me a lot
The 07jk temp needle never ever moved from middle at all even in desert but i know the pentadtar tends to work hotter. Having said that i dont know what normal temp looks like in the pentastar and frankly seeing the needlesl today at 3/4 almost worried me as it cqnt be normal
Never ever have i seen the 240s on tarmac other than only when i offroad i see the needle a bit off kiddle but coming down once 233 f is hit max

Can you please help me understand if this is normal or if not normal what you think it could be and how to troubleshoot?

I can hear fan defo kicks in so it does work but the needle moving post middle for me is just not feeling right

I would replace the thermostat with a Chrysler thermostat (not aftermarket). That should fix the problem. If not do a flush and fill then you should be all good.

Also clean your radiator very well. Even let a hose rub on it for an hour to loosen up the dust and dirt that’s gotten baked in there and then blast it out with a power sprayer. Especially in dusty environments, it’s good maintenance.

If that doesn’t help, do a fully coolant system flush and swap the thermostat while it’s drained.

Hope this helps

Thanks..po did a flush and fill at the stealer about 10000km back with the last service so i guess this is still good?i see that the coolant in the bottle is not at max line but about an inch up from min ...should i add coolant to go to max.. it has not dropped at all from where it is now since i bought it

I read somewhere this could be the problem on the 2015? The manufacture date of the fan saying 8 08 2014 on mine and made in usa on the sticker- Those batches were not great or is that inaccurate? But would that play a role as i hear the fan come on or could it be more the thermostat that stays closed far more than it should?

I have been dealing with a cooling issue and have tried multiple things. A friend of mine was going through the same issue. We both replaced our thermostat with after market parts. He brought his into the local shop who told him that you cannot use aftermarket thermostats. We swapped them out and have been fine ever since.

What is the exact temperature that the thermostat should kick in when it is reached? I can monitor this and see if it does not close when it is reached even when in tarmac then i m sure this must be it
Sometimes even at tarmac i see temp hits 220 before it starts dropping lower..is that normal..what temperature when reqched should i be seeing temp start dropping from?

Ok that s good to know...so can you also tell me what is the exact temperature that the thermostat kicks in at and from which point on i should start seeing tempbdrop...i notice on tarmac that it can go to 225 228 at times also before temp starts dropping...this could be also another tell tell sign themostat s gone? If thermostat must kick in say at 210 then i should not be seeing temps up to 220 225 on tarmac before they dtart dropping for instamce? If i know the temp i can monitor amd confirm it for sure

Temps up to 230 are normal. Over 240 is not good at all.

It’s hot where you live. Running a little hot off-road not moving fast enough to get airflow is normal. If it’s an auto look at an external trans cooler, thatll bring your temps down in the radiator. Plus everything those guys said, cleaning helps a lot.
