Pictures of the AEV Tire Carrier (No bumper)

Caught the Bug
Can anyone help me out with some pictures specifically where the AEV tire carrier is mounted to the frame rail? Can't find any good ones on AEV's site and I know one or two people on here have ran it at one time. I want to see if I can use this with the EVO rear frame rail cover and D-ring mounts.

Thanks guys

I don't have any pictures but a few of suggestions, pm jkjody I recall him having the carrier on his jeep, look up the aev conversions forum they have a few pictures of it there and email them asking for close up pics. I have talked to them via email and phone calls and they have always been helpful. Hope this helps.

I think it does work and actually looks cool without a bumper I think, just don't remember who had that setup.

I was going to order the evo D ring mounts but on the carrier side it just wont stick out far enough to put an actual D ring in. The frame rails need to be cut as it is, thats the way evo designed the mounts to give better approach angle. Now if they made theD rings to sit flush with the frame rails without trimming them, then they would work with the carrier.

Actually that's incorrect. Every frame is different and they are not the same length. That is why some people have to trim and others don't.

Spent my lunch break looking at the spindle mount and trying to figure how to fit the d ring mount without cutting the spindle mount, you'd have it cut it to allow and ring to mount. It just won't work, if you look at the part of the spindle mount that is shaped like a reverse c you would need to remove that to make it work. Remove it and the spindle mount is weaker throw a 37 up there and I bet in a week the mount will be bent or warped. Like hinrich said it would look cool but function over form. Just my :twocents:

Thanks again guys. I can definitely tell from those pictures that a) the passenger side d-ring would definitely not fit and b) without serious modification to the rear crossmember plate, it wouldn't fit either. No point in chopping up a $190 part just to make it work. Oh well, it was an idea anyway...
