Overlanding Gear

MTG

Caught the Bug
I'm starting this thread so I can keep track in one place things I find of interest and might want to buy.

Focus on items to use in the jeep for camping…er…overlanding.

Feel free to post up as well if you see something along those lines too.

Please post up if you have used a product that has been posted, opinions (good or bad) are welcome. Well, except overlanders.

This will be fun...I love this stuff.

Even though you will bring water, you want one of these. http://www.katadyn.com/usen/katadyn...rs-endurance-series-products/katadyn-pocket-1

Make your own, or just kick down for something like this: http://www.adventuremedicalkits.com/medical-kits/mountain-series-comprehensive.html

A good durable axe. http://www.sogknives.com/base-camp-axe.html

This is big and heavy, but it's great with kids because they can take a panel and use it to walk around. http://www.coleman.com/product/coleman-quad-led-lantern/2000001150#.U_jbYdm9Kc0

For the tent, I really like the Kelty Flashback lanterns. http://www.kelty.com/c-52-lighting.aspx

Love the chair/lounger hammock. Think I need one for overlanding in my back yard!

Along the lines of Sharkey's post, here's a lifestraw. Link to your favorite store.

Olram- I had the non-table version of the Springtail Molle rack. It was solid but, unless you have a security deck, it's a pita with the top off. I had to remove all of my Molle gear for around town then put it back in for the trail.

That helinox stuff looks cool. The videos they have made me laugh though. You should never shake shock corded aluminum poles to get them to snap together. Doing so can break the cord and/or damage the ends of the aluminum.

Easy Camping Tricks

I had found this article awhile ago (think I may have posted it somewhere in the forum too) and was just waiting for smokinv10 to create a new thread for the first time he goes overlanding and has bunch of generic, freshman level questions before I posted the link, but who knows when he will actually go off road ;) :

Actually has some pretty neat tricks to impress the kids and better half :thumb:

Thank you for always making any thread funny. Or at least funny to some people. 😁

My ride- 2001 power wheel, 11" plastic tires, upgraded battery, boat sides, custom bumpers, tow hooks, new paint.

I like having fun without being too much of a dick weed. Thick skin- the one that can't be bought, but is earned by making mistakes throughout life. I earned my thick skin by 2nd grade, I am kind of an idiot :icon_crazy:

Now back to thread at hand! It is a really good topic I truly have had interest in for as long as vehicles and camping have been around!

Here's something I have done in the back of my JKU to make it easier to pack camping gear.

It fits four small action packers underneath , or two plus my BBQ as well as my Coleman stove. I used what I had kicking around.

You really can't go wrong with one of these. (Just ask Panda and Kitty, they were spoiled with home made B&G for breakfast). ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1408826349.258015.jpg
