Introduction:
Many of you who know me and Steph have come to realize that we are true Jeep fans. I have grown up around Jeeps and have owned several Jeeps over the years. I worked for a Jeep dealer for several years in the 80’s and I met my incredible wife Stephanie because she owned a Jeep. My great dad owned many Jeeps in his lifetime and to this day owns a 1977 Cherokee Chief.
Jeeps and the Jeep lifestyle is in a sense, part of our DNA. I can’t imagine not ever being a part of the WAYALIFE. Stephanie and I are so grateful for all the amazing friendships we have made over the years from being a part of this great forum. Cindy and Eddie have truly shown us what the Jeep lifestyle is all about and I thank them for that.
Back in January 2015, Steph and I realized that with all the amazing adventures we have been so lucky to be a part of, that our current 2009 JKU Rubicon and daily driver would have well over 100,000 miles on the clock before June 2015. While the JK has been one of the most reliable vehicles we have ever owned, our concern was that if it had a major breakdown, one of us would be taking the bus to work. With that in mind, we decided that by summer 2015 we would look into getting a new Jeep. Knowing the new Renegade was coming out soon, we thought we might change things up a bit and look into getting one when they come out.
Well, we have gone back and forth on that idea more times than a game of tennis. Let’s get a JK, no, let’s get a Renegade. It was driving us crazy until one day in a conversation about what we should buy, we looked at each other and said one model at the same time. Can you guess what it was?
By late March I started looking for the Jeep we wanted and just like when I was looking for our 2009, I could not find one with the exact options and color. I think I checked every dealer in California before I decided the only way to get what we wanted was to special order one from the factory and since we were in no hurry to get one, that is what we ended up doing.
Long story short, I worked out a great deal with our local Jeep dealer internet sales person and on April 1st 2015, placed an order for a new Jeep. At that time, I was told that our new Jeep would arrive in about 6 to 8 weeks from the date ordered.
So two weeks ago my sales guy said the Jeep is on the way and should arrive at the dealer on May15th. Since I had the VIN, I would periodically check the dealer web site to see if there was a status update on the Jeep. The status would always show "vehicle in transit". Early this morning, I decided to check the dealer web site again and found the “vehicle in transit” status was gone and a stock number had been assigned to the Jeep. I jumped up, woke Steph up from a deep sleep and said let’s head over to the dealer. Sure enough, it was there! The sales guy won't be in until Tuesday so it looks like we will have a new Jeep in our garage soon!! I'll post up more pics soon...
Can’t wait to start a new project…
What mods should we do?
What will become of the 2009?
What adventures will we go on next?
What Jeep did we actually buy?
What should we name the new Jeep?
All this and more to come… Stay tuned!
