No rear bumper and trail body damage?

I have 35" tires on my '08 JK and have the spare secured inside. I have been running the stock rear bumper and replacing it every few months when it gets really torn up.

I have been thinking about the no rear bumper route or maybe a small bumper that you have to remove the rear frame cross member. I do not have any rear quarter panel armor.

Am I looking at more likely rear damage going this route? Bull Frog and Cake Walk are about the limit of my rock crawling for now. Any comments appreciated - thanks!

Hey bud, here'e a link to a thread that just went over this, lot's of good info form people running no rear bumper with D rings on the frame. From what I gathered the biggest risk you run is damage to the spare but sounds like you have that covered. Good luck ! Happy wheeling :beer::thumb:

Thanks but I posted the same question at about the time that thread became more of a discussion on rear tire carriers.
