Just curious if there is any difference in the build of the 35/12.50/17 vs 315/70/17 . Overall diameter is within a couple 10ths of an inch. Just wondering if there is any advantage to running one tire vs the other since they are almost identical in size.

Only difference I see is the load rating. The 35x12.50 is E rated and the 315/70 is D rated. There probably isn't a noticeable difference between the two. I would get whichever is cheaper

the 35/12.50r17 are actually: 34.84 in tall and 13.19 inches wide

the 315/70r17 are actually: 34.36 in tall and 12.40 inches wide

Its your call, you really will not notice the difference in height, width you might... but i would go with the cheaper tires :thumb:

I went with the 315's on my 2dr. They were cheaper by about $10, but I'm really happy I went with them because of the load range. It will be more than enough if you ever needed to haul something, and soft enough to provide a nice ride, and great flexing when you air down.

it is I would take the 315s over the 35s if we could do it all over again, i have Ds on my 37s love it she has E on the 35s and its a little stiffer.

I went with the 35x12.50s in load range E because I travel dirt roads and in pastures a lot. The E range should be a little better as far as not getting flats as much.

I went with the 315s back when I had these to get load range D. Was much def softer ride than my e rated 37s. Not sure where the Rekless got the 13.19" wide in the 12.5s. My 315s looked much wider than most people's 12.5s.

I have the 315s, D range is the way too go on a Jeep if C range is unavailable. E's in my opinion are way to stiff and made for a heavy truck that carries a heavy load. Not much sidewall flex in an E load range.

Yeah, tough call but inches matter and I'll take all the ground clearance I can get. I had "analysis paralysis" last week with replacement tire options. I landed back with what I had which was the Trail Grappler in the E load range, primarily to minimize trail related incidents like flats or torn sidewalls. Trail repairs suck so if I can reduce them....all the better. You just gotta decide what trade offs you willing to live with and what the budget allows. Good luck.
