New PS bumper and AEV tire carrier combo?

Caught the Bug
Anyone else see this new bumper that Northridge 4x4 is rocking on the JKX this year? I'm digging it!

I think it looks good if you want a full bumper, you can always run just the aev carrier by itself :thumb:

So they just drilled a hole on top? Looks kinda like ACE with the lights. Not bad if you already have the tire carrier and need a bumper

Thats what I thought, it looks exactly like the ACE

Yep, that's true. I believe another forum member JK Jody is doing that and I kind of like that look, but this is another alternative to that.

Personally, I think the cost might be the killer here. The PS Rock Brawler 2 works similarly to the AEV carrier (just doesn't mount the tire carrier arm directly to the frame rail like the AEV one) and it's just over $1400 I think? To take the AEV carrier which is around $900 and add a bumper to that, you'd have to keep it around $500 to keep the cost even.

As Olram30 said, if you already have the tire carrier, it isn't bad if you're just looking to replace the bumper with a non-AEV one, which is fairly expensive if I remember correctly.

I think they re-capped the ends of that bumper. It doesnt look like it terminates in the usual spot as a PS bumper. Could be the angle of the pics but idk.
Here is one that looks awesome.

Might as well add to the speculation, ;-).

They originally had the PSC Brawler II rear bumper on there, the newer one that connects to the tailgate for the one handed opening. I have the original Brawler rear bumper with a more traditional separate bumper mounted carrier and while it's a nice piece of kit, the carrier triangle on mine wiggles and flexes a fair bit with even a 37" tire.

Always wondered how much added stress the new style tailgate connected carriers like the Brawler II transfer to the tail gate sheet metal and if the switch to the frame mounted carrier is related or just me making shit up? ;-)
