It's funny how it only takes one wheeling trip to jack up the balance on a perfectly good drive shaft. In spite of what we know, we had left the rear drive shaft on Moby vibrate way longer than we probably should have and only because it seemed like we had just gotten it re-balanced. Never mind that we had been wheeling Moby all summer and knew full well that we had spun our drive shaft trying to climb a myriad of big rocks and ledges - we just had it balanced so it had to be fine, right? Well, knowing that we would need to do a lot of driving for the holidays, I decided to pull Moby's rear drive shaft and have it rebalanced at a local driveline shop. As luck would have it, we have a few shops in our small town and the one I took it to said they could have it done right away. And, about as soon as I dropped it off, I got a call saying it was done and for the whopping sum of $42!
In case you're wondering, I just got the shaft installed and took it for a test drive. Suffice it to say, our vibrations are gone
The moral of the story is, regardless of how new your drive shaft or shafts may be, if you've got a vibration, you may want to have it or them rebalanced... just in case.:yup:
