Midwest & Wisconsin jeepers!

Hey forums,

This is my second year in Wisconsin and I would love to bring my colleges outdoors club on a jeepin woods trip to a nice place to camp. Any spot knowledge would be greatly appreciated, and especially somewhere with a lake. The point is to try and take some jeeps and other four wheelers for some light off roading to camping.

Thanks guys!

I would recommend Boulder Lake Campground which is on the southern edge of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest:
http://www.recreation.gov/camping/boulder-lake/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=73637
Located 30 miles north of Shawano and just a few miles from the campground you will find literally 100's of miles of forest service roads to explore. The off roading is light in most areas, but every once and a while you will encounter a muddy trail with standing water and deep ruts. I seam to do ok with my stock JKU with road tires and haven't gotten stuck yet (knock on wood). The trails can be tight so expect a lot of branches and some "custom pin stripes". Check out my thread for some pictures:
