Doing more desktop cleaning, I came across a host of pics that we took of Moby back in the early part of December. Moby was of course, more than happy to have Jet over at the body shop getting his quarter panels repaired and completely out of action. Suffice it to say, he would once again serve as our primary play rig and the following miscellaneous pics are from some of the fun we had, messin around with him out in the desert. I hope you enjoy.
Just because we could, Cindy and I loaded Moby up and headed out into the vastness that's known as, Nevada!
Basking in the glow of another Northern Nevada sunset.
Moby always all too eager to show just how much better he is than Jet.
It's a good thing that Moby is no longer running 40x15.50's on Slabs with 3.5" of back spacing because he may not have made it though this tunnel if he still was.
Moby picking a canyon to explore and just because he can.
And, what better way to wrap up a day than to do it out in the middle of a dry lake bed.
Working our way back home, Moby decided on a whim to take the second trail to the right.
Oh boy - cyanide! A sure sign that we were heading into an old gold mining district.
And, what better way to enjoy some cyanide than to do it with a cuddly cholla.
Working our way into the hills.
And some really alien looking rock formations.
View of Moby from the top of the alien hill.
Close by was this old miners home built into the hillside.
Taking a peek inside.
Being that building supplies were so scares out in the desert, it was pretty common for miners to recycle wooden crates for things like doors or in this case, roofing. What isn't so common is to still see what was printed on them well over 100 years later.
Here you can see that this crate was stamped with December 6, 1907.
If you can believe it, this used to be a trail that could be traveled by wagon or old Model T! In spite of all his taunting for us to give it a try, we convinced Moby to save it for another day. We were after all, by ourselves and losing daylight.
Walking about half way up and looking back.
Here's a shot from all the way up top looking back. Can't hardly tell there's an obstacle from here.
Working our way around and up into another canyon.
Another home?
eh, based on the old hand written note - more likely a powder room where dynamite was stored.
With the sun all but about down, Moby took us to a high point to enjoy the colors in the sky and on the hills and all before taking us safely back home.
