Caught the Bug
Well I posted awhile back that I had made a deal with a local dealer to hold a red '14 Rubicon 4dr for me until I returned home from work, in Afghanistan. I came home from work the beginning of the 2nd week of December to find out that they sold it. No worries, as another dealer down in the Phoenix Valley had an awesome Anvil '15 Unlimited Rubicon with just the options I wanted. 3.73 gears, base stereo, connectivity, hard top, automatic. I used my Tread Lightly membership to start negotiating at 1% below invoice, but ended up at just at 3% below, which is a great deal IMHO.
I must say, the differences in this '15 when compared to my '08 Rubicon 4 dr are amazing. It actually feels, dare I say, fast! The engine feels and sounds great, 5 speed trans shifts amazing. Better than the same engine and trans that came in my '13 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. The drive from Phoenix which is just at 1500 ft elevation, to Prescott at almost 6000 feet, is a bit of a climb, and the new JK did it without issue at 65 - 70 mph, without dropping to 3rd gear more than once or twice, and held speed with the cruise on. I LOVE the interior and new seats. Such an improvement. The small details like the ambient lighting in the floor and cup holders, the Jeep emblems in the cup holders, windshield corners, and few other areas add a cool look to it. This is by and far the best Jeep I've owned. Looking forward to some upgrades latter this year.
I return to work in early Jan and will not be home to the U.S. again until May. My wife will be driving it in that time, until I get her a new Renegade when they come out, since I traded in the Grand Cherokee on this JK. Once she has her own car, the upgrades will begin. Going straight to Evo DTD coilovers and long arms on this one, with a PR44 front and 60 rear and 37s.
My pics at dusk that did not turn out well. I'll get some good ones soon when I head to Sedona this weekend.
