MALL CRAWLIN at Bronco Canyon

The day after we got home from Moab, our good friends Tony and Stephanie came up to visit and spend some time with Cindy and I. Of course, a visit to our neck of the woods wouldn't be complete without visiting at least one of the many malls we have in the area and the following are photos from the fun we had at Bronco Canyon.

Being that this was a first for them, we decided to make it a complete trip and started it by making a stop over at the Lagomarsino Petroglyph Site, one of the largest rock art sites in the State of Nevada.

With over 2,000 petroglyph panels in the area, the hillside is literally covered with the prehistoric art and some are over 10,000 years old.

After spending about an hour hiking around and exploring myriad of panels at the Lagomarsino Petroglyph Site, we made our way up into Bronco Canyon. Of course, thanks to all the rain and snow we've had this year, the water crossing at Long Valley Creek was pretty deep.
main.php

Just to play it safe, we decided to skirt our way across along the edge.

Before getting to the rocks, there's a thicket of trees and spinney brush you have to push your way through and being that all of it had new growth starting to sprout, it seemed especially thick on this run.
main.php

After listening to the painful sound of new pin stripping being added to our paint, things starting to open up.

Ahhh, finally made it out into the open and into the rocks.

Time to start having some real fun.

Just as he was about to clear the obstacle, Tony got hung up on his cross member and needed a slight tug.

On the move again and having a great time.

What's so fun about Bronco Canyon is that once you get to the rocks, it just goes on and on and on.
main.php

Cindy taking on a big climb that's a piece of cake to do in Moby being that he's running 40's but requires a bit more effort with a set of 37's.
main.php

After unsuccessfully trying to crawl it, Cindy was able to clear the obstacle by giving it a little bump.
main.php

Tony setting up to give it a go.

And he's up!

Pushing further up the canyon.

Tony carefully using his rocker guards to slip past this rock.
main.php

Nearing the end of the lower part of the canyon.
main.php

The last obstacle before heading out of the canyon is a waterfall followed by a set of technical boulders. Fortunately, water wasn't flowing but the base of the falls was filled with water and slick mud underneath.

Cindy diving in.

Tony following close behind.
main.php

Thanks to all the water and slick mud covering the rocks, Tony was at a disadvantage coming up the waterfall, slipped off his line and got a bit high centered.
main.php

Almost out.

Because clearance matters - a perfect example where it's just so awesome to have a Dynatrac ProRock 44.

Heading on out.

Pulling into historic Virginia City after a great day on the trail.

And what better way to end the day then with some pizza, whiskey and a cold beer over at the Red Dog Saloon!

CHEERS!!

I hope you enjoyed following us along on our recent run up Bronco Canyon

Such a fun trail! Surprised you couldn't talk tony into upper bronco canyon.

Oh did you find my caliper bolt I lost there? Lol

That looks like quite a day, I need to get down there and check out bronco canyon one of these weekends! Thanks for sharing as always!

This was a real last minute run and one that we did on a Thursday. We'll definitely have to plan a weekend trip where we can get more of you out with us :yup:

It really is a fun trail and what we like most about it is that you end up in Virginia City. If we can ever get you out this way, we'll have to take you out there :yup:

You guys really do live the good life.

Well, we try anyway :D

That was an awesome run! Thank you for sharing Eddie. The pictures were amazing!

Do you think someone could make through those boulders on 35s? Just wondering.

That's looks challenging, but also a lot of fun. While Moby kicks ass, I will say I just love seeing rubicat out there on 37s. I just try not to notice the DTD. Lol.

I was thinking the same thing. Rubicat is kicking butt, even with smaller tires!

Is there a big difference from lower vs upper canyon? The good old interweb pics make upper look brutal. Can it be done with a JK?

Looks like a great time! [emoji106][emoji41]

We need to get you and Ray out here and we'll take you to some of our malls too ;)

Hey I need one of those!

LOL!! Well, I kept it just for you :D

Yes. The nice thing about Bronco Canyon is that there are a lot of lines you can take - easier to harder. The last few may need a tug but we've had others come with us who only had 35's.

LOL!! You'd do fine on this trail and we'll have to take you out on it. :yup:

Oh yeah, Rubicat did great but so did Tony and Steph in their JK with 37's :yup:

Ha! Your JK won't look the same after.

What Adam said, there's one point on upper Bronco Canyon that's the real deal. I'd love to give it a try someday but it'd come at a cost.
