The day after we got home from Moab, our good friends Tony and Stephanie came up to visit and spend some time with Cindy and I. Of course, a visit to our neck of the woods wouldn't be complete without visiting at least one of the many malls we have in the area and the following are photos from the fun we had at Bronco Canyon.
Being that this was a first for them, we decided to make it a complete trip and started it by making a stop over at the Lagomarsino Petroglyph Site, one of the largest rock art sites in the State of Nevada.
With over 2,000 petroglyph panels in the area, the hillside is literally covered with the prehistoric art and some are over 10,000 years old.
After spending about an hour hiking around and exploring myriad of panels at the Lagomarsino Petroglyph Site, we made our way up into Bronco Canyon. Of course, thanks to all the rain and snow we've had this year, the water crossing at Long Valley Creek was pretty deep.
Just to play it safe, we decided to skirt our way across along the edge.
Before getting to the rocks, there's a thicket of trees and spinney brush you have to push your way through and being that all of it had new growth starting to sprout, it seemed especially thick on this run.
After listening to the painful sound of new pin stripping being added to our paint, things starting to open up.
Ahhh, finally made it out into the open and into the rocks.
Time to start having some real fun.
Cindy working her way onto some bigger rocks.
Tony following her lead.
Just as he was about to clear the obstacle, Tony got hung up on his cross member and needed a slight tug.
On the move again and having a great time.
Tony putting his PUREJEEP rocker guards to the test.
What's so fun about Bronco Canyon is that once you get to the rocks, it just goes on and on and on.
Cindy taking on a big climb that's a piece of cake to do in Moby being that he's running 40's but requires a bit more effort with a set of 37's.
After unsuccessfully trying to crawl it, Cindy was able to clear the obstacle by giving it a little bump.
Tony setting up to give it a go.
And he's up!
Pushing further up the canyon.
Simply loving our new Cooper Discoverer STT Pros!
Tony carefully using his rocker guards to slip past this rock.
Nearing the end of the lower part of the canyon.
The last obstacle before heading out of the canyon is a waterfall followed by a set of technical boulders. Fortunately, water wasn't flowing but the base of the falls was filled with water and slick mud underneath.
Cindy diving in.
Tony following close behind.
Thanks to all the water and slick mud covering the rocks, Tony was at a disadvantage coming up the waterfall, slipped off his line and got a bit high centered.
Almost out.
Because clearance matters - a perfect example where it's just so awesome to have a Dynatrac ProRock 44.
Heading on out.
Pulling into historic Virginia City after a great day on the trail.
And what better way to end the day then with some pizza, whiskey and a cold beer over at the Red Dog Saloon!
CHEERS!!
I hope you enjoyed following us along on our recent run up Bronco Canyon
