I just bought a '12 JKU and noticed that after the engine warms up and the eclectic fan goes to high speed that it is very loud...is this normal or is there a fix for this?

That's cause the fan is eclectic!

Pardon the hijack, but this is relevant - Hey Coop, you have a Rubi. right? Did you ever look at what temp yoursgets to after a long uphill? Or, whats the hottest temp you've seen on your readout? I started with the base sport so I've never seen the actual temp ...

Did a friend of yours add a "harmonica balancer" by any chance?

But seriously..... Fan noise is good. If you start to hear bearing noise then that's bad.

Hey Jerry! No mine is the base sport too. Don't know the temp but on high RPM my gage quickly moves about an 1/8th inch or slightly more past center but comes down quickly when RPM drops and fan kicks in. I want to intercept the data bus and get a digital read out if I can figure out how to do it.

Yup, mine does the same. I seem to remember seeing a gauge readout where the JK's run in the 200-225 range? Strange so high because my '12 Durango with the same engine NEVER gets above 200. Oh well, just a side note. Thanks COOP!

The 3.6L comes with a really strong fan and as mentioned, the fan noise is a good thing especially on a motor that likes to run HOT.

I've checked my readout during various engine conditions, including long hill climbs under full engine load. Temps are between 200-228, as stated above.
