Local Trail: Jumbo and Ophir Grade to Virginia City for lunch

MTG

Caught the Bug
I had heard that Jumbo Grade was washed out and not passable. So we decided to head out and check it out.

Only 8 miles?

Didn't take too long to reach the end of the road.

Looking back at it.

Even though we were solo we decided to give it a try. Doesn't really do it justice but it was steep and off camber enough give a little pucker.

After a side trip on the wrong trail we came back and found the second washout. BTW plenty of opportunity for some Nevada pinstriping out there.

Not as hard to cross as the first, but there must have been some serious water coming down the hill this winter. This is looking back down where the road was. The road is where the water is. Someone had blazed a trail to the left that led across the water.

After that it is pretty much a rocky dirt road with a lot of ruts...and some decent scenery.

Danger!

Virginia city was packed due to a motorcycle race this weekend.

But we found a seat at the Red Dog Saloon for some drinks and pizza.

I've been working crazy hours and itching to get off road some, so this was a nice way to spend a few hours with the family.

Very nice Mike! I know the feeling of life getting in the way of off road fun. Glad you were able to stretch a bit. [emoji41][emoji106]

Awesome! Looks like an otherwise easy trail got a bit more technical. Glad you got out and had a great time :thumb:
