Local trail...Billy Bob

MTG

Caught the Bug
Got a late text from a friend (2012jkfng702) that they were going to be in town this weekend, and as it turns out LoPo and his buddy had to cancel a trip they had planned for this weekend as well. So we decided to hit a little trail that we had previously tried to run, but couldn't because it was under a blanket of snow.

No more than 5 minutes off the closest HWY we were off the road and ready to air down.

After a few minutes winding through a canyon we start to find some rocks.

The first of many times we got to test the suspension today.

Almost to the start of the trail.

And so it begins.

Working our way up.

Look! More rocks.

This gives you a pretty good idea of the size of the rocks. He's on 37s.

Another obstacle. Of course, nobody opted for the easy line.

Robert about to go up.

Unfortunately his PSC hose had been rubbing for a while and chose this obstacle to give out on.

A little creative trail fix and we were ready to move along.

The trail continues on but not knowing how long the bandaid would hold on the hydraulic line we opted to take a bypass out.

It was a little steep.

At the top we were treated to a nice view of one of the North Valleys.

So we crest the top and see what appears to be a bunch of crap in the road. Upon further inspection it appears that was a mix of some old and new camping gear and what was a fully stocked cooler of food. A real WTF moment. While we would normally haul trash out we decided whoever lost it would be back soon. So we just moved it to the side of the trail. A hiker came up just then and said he saw an old truck hauling ass up this hill and it was bouncing all over the place. Best guess is all this stuff bounced out and they didn't notice. But I'm guess they figured it out when they went to grab a sandwich. :cheesy:

Continuing on down.

ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1375572595.198977.jpg
Flattened out so we could speed it up a bit.

We decided to air up at a local watering hole and unsuccessfully tried to get the waitress to give us some parking lot beers. ;)

After that we went in and enjoyed a nice Great Basin Brewing Co. Icky IPA and some good food.

Not a bad way to enjoy part of the day.

Sweet write-up. Looked like a blast. Great day and great views there. Pretty weird to see all the camping gear. You'd think they'd have noticed.

Chris grabbed a couple of Knuckles. That rock ended up only a few inches from my door.

Proof I was on the trail and didn't just meet them at the top. ;)

I have videos that I need to edit a bit, including the Hydro line bursting.

Nice!! I have to find out where these trails are and give them a go the next time I'm up in the area :yup:

Thanks! This was a fun little run. There is actually a split right where the trail begins and you can loop around and do the other one right after this. I haven't done it, but will hopefully get a chance soon. Next time you're up give us a heads up! :yup:

Awesome run today guys... Nice to meet LoPo and his friend. As soon as my phone charges I will shoot the pics i got to Mike or try to post them myself. What a perfect day. Trail was a ever changing trail and I doubt it will be the same twice, was a lot like Tie Rod Canyon in Vegas!

Nice meeting you too Chris. Thanks for the spotting help! :thumb:

Here are the two videos..

First up, MTG going through some mild rocks.

Next up, the Hydro Assist Hose blowing out.
