Question- Why a 6" lift? 4.5" with flat fenders is the max you would need for 40" tires. What size tires are you planning to run?

Yes you do. What size tire are you planning on getting? 6" is crazy tall.

My dad has a TJ with 6" running 35s so i wanted to one up him n run 40s with a 6" but then on the other hand i was thinking of just saving my money n getting 4" n flat fenders. I guess i just want to have mine sit higher then the old mans!

Higher isn't better. A JK is far different from a TJ and you need more then a lift and driveshafts to run 40's.

TJ's and JK's are different animals when it comes to lifts. TJ's need more work to run the same size tire that we can run on a JK. For example i run 2.5" lift with flat fenders and 35's, Rubicat runs what is = to a 3.5" lift with 37's and flat fenders.
im sure if you were to run a 4.5" lift with flats and 40's that you would still sit higher than his tj and be able to do way more. even 35's will get you at the same level if not better than him on the trails cause you will have a lower center of gravity.
