If you have RCV axle shafts, you know it’s recommended to grease them at every oil change, or tire rotation, to insure that the grease slinging potential is at its maximum. If thick grease isn’t all over the fucking place then you’re doing it wrong. If the two don’t coincide then it becomes a pain in the ass if you need to take off the fronts just to give your shafts a few squirts. It’s also a good idea to squirt in your shafts before a big wheeling trip.
So because I didn’t need to rotate my tires, and didn’t want to remove the fronts, I had this idea to make it easy to remove the KMC center caps. If you drill a small hole in the top-center of the caps, above the KMC logo, and 1/8” from the top, you can insert a pick to pull out the cap. There’s a metal plate back there that you can use to pull against so it doesn’t mess up the hole.
