Just watched Eddie’s gentle death wobble video….

Before I say anything understand I come from a Toyota background, so I am still extremely new to the Jeep platform.

So I just watched Eddie’s video from 5 years ago of the light wobble he had in his JL, so my question is in your TJ, JK, JL, JT, what did you find was your best track bar or wobble fix?

Thank you in advance.

To be fair, I personally think that a lot of what you were seeing in that old video was caused by the aluminum steering box that came on 2018 JL Wranglers. I went through a gamut of upgrades to address it but what really seemed to help was installing a steering box brace. That said, I personally don't think you will see this same issue with newer JL Wranglers or Gladiators thanks to the iron boxes they now come with. I should note that unlike older Wranglers and Jeeps, the electric steering pump does seem to be finicky and what steering stabilizer you run does seem to make a difference too.

Regarding older Wranglers, the number one cause of death wobble is a loose track bar bolt or worn out bushing. Next up would be a worn out ball joint.

Have you ever tried using polyurethane bushings or is that to stiff for what jeeps need?

What jeeeep said ^^^

Polyurethane was really big in the 80s-90s but eventually fell out of favor due to them being so high maintenance or at least, in terms of keep them from squeaking so much. And really, every bolt comes loose and every bushing eventually wears out, even polyurethane.

Me personally, the best bushings are clevite or bonded rubber and ONLY when it's on both ends.

I've used poly bushings, start out great but overtime begin to squeak and squeal; ended up replacing them with rubber bushings for quietness
I found (on my MR-2) that penetrating silicon lubricant makes the squeak go away for a few months.

It was very unfortunate that I went through so much effort to install poly bushings on my CJ-5. The bushings needed to be shaved down to fit.

yeah, I did that and decided too much effort and replaced them all with rubber bushings
