JK Rubicon Dana 44 Question

So I’m rebuilding & regearing my rear end with 5.13s, but my master kit from Revolution included an extra pinion splash shield which mine didn’t have, so bounced around the web to determine its placement. So the original splash shield was behind the pinion seal and saw this diagram showing it on the outside which I believe to be incorrect. Can any one confirm item #4 should be on the inside?

I did ours about a year ago and don't recall that part. We have a sport and the front Dana 30 had a baffle like that but it was inside the housing behind one of the bearing races. The rear just had the oil slinger only but not that baffle. I used the Revolution kit also.

Thanks for the feedback! I may leave that baffle out and not risk misplacement.
