Hello everyone,

Here is an easy cheap way to secure the rear of your JK for under $100.

3/4 Plywood
Floor Glue
Black Vinyl
6) T-40 Mirror Bolts

I bolted the rear seats open and used the T-40 mirror bolts to secure it to the factory hard top holes.

The reason for using the mirror bolts instead of the hard top bolts, is that the mirror bolts are about an inch longer to accommodate the 3/4 inch plywood.

Takes about 4 hours start to finish.

Easy swap out between hard top to hard cover. About 30 minutes.

All the best,
Shantz

Thanx, really not too difficult a job. If you drive around with your top off, I highly recommend it.

Nice work. I always like to see projects like this. 👍👍 Any pics of the interior of the compartment and does it have a secure back against the seats.

I could take a few pics of the interior for ya later today.

The seats are bolted open and can not be folded down. So it makes for a nicely sealed back area.

If anyone around L.A. area wants help building one, hit me up... I will charge you beer for the work.

How did you bolt the seats ?

Placed this turnbuckle hook under the seat where the hinge points are and wrenched it down... works perfectly.

looks good. but what do you do when you want to put the top back on?

Easy 30min swap out... just unbolt the hard cover and put the hard top back on... you can use the same mirror bolts. I picked up the 6 bolts from the dealership for under $40 bucks. Funny the T40 bolts were the most expensive part of the job.
