Jeep Build - Suggestions?

Hello fellow Jeep fanatics. I have been contemplating building a Jeep that I can use..well anywhere. I have a JK build that I am leaving modified as is (except for maybe some small changes) and I sold my YJ (regret doing that), so I'll be looking for a new rig to start off with.

So, I ask you this question. What model Jeep would you start off with and why? CJ, YJ, TJ, LJ, JK (2 DR or 4 DR).

My goal:

1) Build a Jeep that I can drive on the highway (no towing or trailer) to any destination and then take it off-road, rock crawling, overland/expedition runs, just about anything

Everything is on the table. I welcome all suggestions and experiences that you had had building your rigs.

Thanks!

BTW. Once I purchase Jeep and begin build, I'll be documenting and recording the build and sharing with everyone.

JKU or JKUR (which one is a different discussion) hands down. They have the most carrying capacity and most stability on the greatest variety of terrain.

I agree with Sharkey. I've owned two 2dr JKs and even though I don't have any kids the JKU is the way to go. The longer wheelbase and more storage space pays for itself.

Does the LJ have the same or similar wheelbase and storage space?

JKU/JKUR. There are simply too many aftermarket parts and choices out there to try to do something else.

As far as I know. But, the access with a JKU is much easier as you have the doors in the rear. If you have kiddos or wheel with more than two people, getting in and out will be a chore in an LJ.
