Iowa Trails

Does anyone know of any trails in Iowa? It's primarily flat farm land here and I was just wondering if there were any nice places to wheel? I've heard the Ledges and Decorah are really beautiful but I want to take the Jeep out and test its abilities and not have to drive 10 hours to get there.

We have a spot to wheel, it is an old strip mine.
We are planning a trip this weekend weather permitting.

I'm not aware of any in iowa, the local corn field or dirt roads all I hit up. I hear Tuttle Creek park in Kansas is a fun trail. Not too much of a drive. I know of some jeepers who will be making a trip down this weekend.

I grew up in and around Ames...

Note that you're only 10-12 hours from Colorado. Even a 4-day trip will blow your mind (1 day to get here, 2 days in CO, 1 day back). July and August are the best months for wheeling. Some snow doesn't melt in the mountains until then.

There's a place called the Farm too. Also the guys at Complete Off Road in Dubuque put on some stuff and have some trails. I think the tri state stump Jumpers have some trails up there.

A trail in south sioux city just opened back up to the public. It was closed due to the Missouri river flooding. It's mainly a sand and mud trail.
